MENGENAI Tossi Village
The history of the name of the village Tossi originated from a King named Rato Loghe who lived in this village then married a girl named Wulla Dero. The word Tossi consists of the words To which means person and Ssi which means male because the village was first inhabited by a man.
It is also one of the villages that holds the Pasola traditional ceremony together with Mbuku Bani’s village. Tossi Village, the younger brother of Mbuku Bani village, was given the honor to announce to the public regarding the Pasola schedule that had been determined in Mbuku Bani village.
The village has a spring called Wai Marunga which is the source of water for the local community. They also believe that its water can cure diseases which is why they used to not recognize chemical drugs. The water is also used to splash the horses that carry out Pasola in order for them to gain strength from the god Marapi. Tossi village has 52 traditional houses called Uma Kelada, 80 old tomb stones, ancient objects such as dishes and gongs, and ancient statues made of sandalwood deemed sacred by the local community because of Marapu customs and traditions.
